There are three hotels, a bistro and a tea-room in Strontian,
where meals ranging from lunchtime snacks to full evening
dinners can be obtained.
A Post Office, General Store, Filling Station and Doctor's
surgery are all located in the village, along with a modern
Tourist Information Centre.
The area is one of outstanding natural beauty and a quiet
relaxing holiday is assured. The following activities are
particularly relevant to the area:
Wildlife Watching
A wonderful, unspoilt area for observing Highland wildlife.
including Golden Eagle, White-tailed
Sea Eagle, Otter, Pine marten, Red Squirrel, Red and Roe Deer,
Seals and much more. ( We are RSPB and BTO
members).
Walking
This is one of the best areas in the U.K. for walking, with
beautiful scenery all around. We have lots of information.
It is worth looking at
John Dye's website.
Fishing
Trout fishing is available on local estates and there is sea
fishing in Loch Sunart. I can issue certain permits and give
advice on the local fishing.
Golf
A beautiful nine-hole golf course at Ballachullish approx
19 miles away.
It is 'pay and play'with modern clubhouse facilities.
Touring
We are ideally situated for visiting the many places of interest
in the region. The Isles of Mull, lona & Staffa (Fingal
's Cave), Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, Ardtornish Gardens, Tioram
Castle and Glenfinnan Monument are all within easy reach,
along with the towns of Fort William, Oban, Tobermory and
Mallaig.
